In October of 2004 someone erred and played President Bush's 1 in 10 Campaign advertisement immediately followed by President Obama's 1 in 8 ad. The call was "1 in 8 Americans is going to bed hungry every night, the Free Food Bank's are out of food and out of money, you need to give." The question here is how as a Nation we could spend even dollar one on anything before we feed and shelter those in need. This is beyond immoral, it is truly amoral. We spend so much on thing that are not "needs" but are wants.
The concept of the "Social Contract" is that we gather together and adopt a form of governance to protect our "natural rights" and our "property." Throughout all of human history there have always been those in need, and there have also been many ways that they are cared for. Of the ways that have been used there are some that have worked very well, and some that have failed, and the ones that have failed have also lead to a collapse of the state where they were implemented. When one depends on the state to meet the needs of those who have not, the needs are poorly met, and the cost to society inedibly spirals out of control to the point that the needy are not helped any more as there is no money left, and the rest of society collapses as well leading to revolution or at least the situation where everyone starves.
When we serve with the purse we do not see the actual cost of the care, and feel no skin in the game. We do not pay attention to how quickly or efficiently the needs are met, and if the aid is going to those who are truly in need. We are now at a tipping point in our society where the costs, overhead and waste are potentially going to lead to our demise, but if we take a lesson from history and use the tremendous technology that is available to us today we can meet the needs of those less fortunate, give them great opportunity to rise up, and nearly eliminate the cost of welfare.
Trying to change Washington has not worked in our history so let us the citizens take upon our selves the responsibility of our own sovereignty and take back the customers from government. There are three areas of need for human existence today. Food, shelter and medical care are the larger areas where we can affect the greatest change, and we will lay out a blueprint on how to overcome each one and how it will better benefit the poor, our communities and our Nation. In reading this you may think that there is no place for you to be involved, but that incorrect. Creating a dialog and social movement to encourage those who can help in the three primary areas is a large part. If you know someone who has a friend that owns property that you are not even aware of, you can be responsible for bringing them into the fold. There is also your time and your passions. Your "time" has far more value then your money when it comes to helping others, and a 10% commitment of your time is no more than four hours per week. Part of this movement is to discuss here and elsewhere ideas that you have on how you might serve your community and to inspire others to the same ends. "We The People" are the answer, and might even be the salvation of our Nation. Be a 10%er!!!!
